Today is the last day to enter my fat quarter giveaway!

I have another composition book guest book to share with you today.

I love sunflowers, and I love the colors on this image! This guest book is going to a fellow pastor's wife that decorates in a country style.

I'm hoping to reorganize/redesign my craft room soon. As a result, I decided to finish a whole pile of projects I have been collecting supplies for. You know, they're the kind of projects that you say, "This would be perfect to make such-and-such," and you just keep collecting cute things for that project.

One of the projects I decided to do is finish all the composition book guest books that I have materials for. What's the point in having 25 composition books sitting here undecorated when I know good and well what I want to use them for, right? I'm hoping to free up a bookcase (in order to eliminate it from the room), and finishing these projects will get me about 1/3 of the way there.

So I'm going to share a few of the many guest books I've finished in the next few days.

I love Anne Geddes as much as the next person, and I thought this cute birdhouse and "bird" would make an excellent guest book. I know the exact pastor's wife to give this to.

I didn't have to do much to it except cut and paste, then stamp on the front. I really liked how it turned out!

Mimi Tote Updated

I mentioned last week that I wanted to add a "little something" to the Mimi quilted bag I had made for a graduation gift. I had just enough time to make this big flower clip before I gave it away on Saturday:

Today I'm sharing a quilt I just finished this week. I had everything but the binding done before all my nieces and nephews came on Monday. I hadn't planned to do much sewing or quilting this week, but I did want to finish this quilt. Fortunately, I got a little time one afternoon to sew on the binding, and it's already on its way to the new owner.



Please excuse the Skechers in the photo background. With nine kids in the house this week, there's bound to be a sneaker "sneaking" into a photo here and there. :)



I really like the blue and purple color scheme for this one.

I used a scrappy binding, and you can even see one of my shop labels peeking out of the corner of the back.

I can't wait to show you the next one, but I haven't even started it yet. I'm really excited about working with it, though, and I hope it will turn out like I'm envisioning it.

Homemade Gift: Hope Quilted Tote

My niece graduated last weekend, and I made her a special tote for the occasion. I used the fat quarter pack I had picked up at Goodwill for $2. There were 5 fat quarters in there, and I got 3 of these totes from the pack. (The other two were used as birthday gifts for a few of my Sunday school teens.) I only added in a little bit of green gingham and the blue lining fabric. Of course, I spent a little bit of time planning it all out so I knew I would have just enough fabric.

To make this one a little different, I went with a patchwork design. I really like it, and I'll probably be using it again!



I also added a zipper, something I've been wanting to try for awhile now. I've been adding zippers to clothing for nearly 20 years, but I've been intimidated by the idea of adding them to a handbag. No more! These are even easier than putting them in clothing. There are great instructions at Instructables.



Of course, I added a bunch of pockets to the inside, using the green gingham to contrast so she could find the pockets easily.



I added a clip to the zipper, since it's not a regular purse zipper (with a larger zipper pull). For this tote, I added a cross charm, but you could add nearly anything - including a decorative keychain.

I'm having a lot of fun with these purses, and they're going over very well. They're a little addicting, in case you can't tell!

Vintage Sheets Quilt #5

No, I didn't just finish this one in a day. :) I've actually had it finished for a week or so now, but I'm just now featuring it. This is Cousin Camp week, so I'm showing you my backlog of finished projects. (Next week I'll probably tell you all about Cousin Camp.)



The more I work with vintage linens, the more I like them. I'm getting addicted to combining prints and patterns!



I also discovered that I can get about eight 8" squares from one pillowcase. That's good to know because sometimes I only have prints in pillowcase form, and I'm always hesitant to include them in a quilt. No longer! This yellow gingham, the pinstripes, and the stripe/floral print were all pillowcases, and I only used one pillowcase of each of them.

I love taking pictures of these quilts! (Can you tell?)


Lastly, here's a closeup of my scrappy binding. I took two of the prints I used in the quilt and made binding from the scraps.

I hope you enjoy seeing these quilts as much as I enjoy sharing them. Every time I make a new one I think, "Wow! That looks totally different!" :)
